"DIED -- At the residence of his son, Henry, in East Bonne Terre, Mo., on Saturday, February 4, 1899, Frank C. Roux, aged 72 years, 6 months and 14 days. Frank C. Roux was born near Dresden, Germany, July 20, 1826, and in 1849 came to this country to avoid service in the German army. He located in Ohio, where he married Miss Ellen Price, in 1850 (or 1859 -- print not clear), and two year later they emigrated to Ste. Genevieve County, Mo., from which place they came to Bonne Terre some seventeen years ago.
During the late war, Mr. Roux served with gallantry in the Confederate cause under Price, and during the service had some half dozen horses shot from under him. He occupied all positions from private to commissary and was held in much respect by his comrades. Mrs. Roux preceded her husband to the grave several years. To them six children were born of whom four still survive -- Henry Roux, of East Bonne Terre; Sam Roux of East Bonne Terre; Marion Roux, a contractor and builder, in Kansas; and Mrs. P. P. Bauman of this city. The funeral was held in East Bonne Terre, Tuesday, February 4, 1899, at 2 o'clock p.m., Rev. J. C. L. Boehm conducting the services, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bonne Terre Cemetery. The family have the sympathy of many Terre friends. [Bonne Terre Star/February 10, 1899]."
